GETTING TO PADOVA
The ancient city of Padova, which was founded by the Iron Age Veneti and later became the send largest urban centre in the Roman Empire is located in the region Veneto, in the north-east of Italy. It is well connected by air and land.

Venice Marco Polo Airport is the nearest airport to Padova. Padova can be easily reached from Venice Airport by:
• cab or shuttle: AirService is a private shuttle service. It costs about 35 Euros and has to be booked 2 days in advance. This is recommended in particular for those whose flights arrive after 8pm. For groups of 3 or 4, a regular taxi will probably be cheaper.
• coach: there is a coach (BUSITALIA – SITA) which takes approximately 1 hour from the airport to the Padova coach station. The ticket costs € 8,50 and there is one bus an hour, leaving at 40 minutes past the hour. The last bus is at 22.40. So if your plane arrives later than that you will need to organize a cab or shuttle. Tickets can be bought in the airport or at a machine by the bus stop (last stop on the right as you exit the Arrivals Terminal. While checking the timetable select from "VENEZIA AEROPORTO TESSERA" to "PADOVA AUTOSTAZIONE" (coach station)
• bus/train: reach the Mestre-Venice railway station by ATVO Fly Bus or ACTV bus no. 15; for ACTV see the timetable from AEROPORTO (Airport) to STAZIONE FS (Railway station), feriale (weekday) or festivo (holiday). Take a train to Padova (see Getting to Padova by Rail)
Treviso Airport is also a convenient Airport, and the above transfer services also operate a service from and to Treviso Airport.
Padova can be reached from Bologna airport by train. The Bologna railway station can be reached from the Bologna Airport by taxi or by the shuttle service Aerobus BLQ. The journey from Bologna railway station to Padova railway station takes approximately 1.5 hours (see Getting Padova by Rail).
BY RAIL
For information to reach Padova by train visit the Trenitalia website or Italo website if you arrive in Padova via Rome/Florence/Bologna.
Tickets are available online at the above links, at the ticket-office at the railway station, at vending machines. Tickets can be bought on board only on local trains and upon payment of a supplement, so we strongly suggest to avoid it.
Mainly there are three types of trains:
• Eurostar, Frecciargento and Frecciabianca: these are high speed trains, more expensive but cheaper if booked in advance.
• Intercity: quite fast connections (prices are often comparable with Eurostar).
• Regional: cheap but slow and not always comfortable.
In front of Padova railway station there are the taxi ranks and the bus stops.

• Milano-Venezia Motorway (A4)
from Venice: exit “Padova Est”
from Milan: exit “Padova Ovest”
• Bologna-Padova Motorway (A13)
from Bologna: exit “Padova Sud”
Follow the road signs to the city centre (Prato della Valle or Cappella degli Scrovegni) where you'll find car parks only ten minutes walk from the city centre.
